Service description

The Kingston and Richmond Portage Services have merged and are part of a Community Interest Company, Achieving for Children.

The two teams are managed by the Educational Psychology Service.

Three Portage Home Visitors cover the London Borough of Richmond and three Portage Home Visitors cover the London Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

There is a full time Portage Co-ordinator. The Team has three Portage Accredited Trainers

Five members of the team deliver the EarlyBird Training.

The majority of families are offered weekly or fortnightly home visits and there are three targeted groups which are run on a weekly basis.

Families with children who are referred with social communication difficulties or Autism are offered a block of home visits with a transition plan so that children canmove on to access some group activities.

Portage has an open referral policy and parents and professionals can refer children (0-5 years old) for consideration. There is no lower age limit for referral and Portage discontinues when the child is 3 years old and receives their funded 15 hours of early years education per week.
