For the fourth year running as part of Portage Awareness Week, Kent Portage held 8 ‘Pop for Portage’ sessions throughout Kent where children were sponsored by friends and family to blow, pop, and jump on bubbles
The staff from the Maidstone area braved the torrential rain holding their event at Fremlin Walk shopping centre at Maidstone. This attracted a number of children who had the opportunity to join in bubble activities and win Pop for Portage balloons as well as raising public awareness of the Portage service.
Lots of fun activities were provided for all the children who joined in enthusiastically with blowing and catching bubbles, looking at pop-up books, painting balloons and playing with foam as well as jumping and cycling to pop bubble wrap. Even washing up in bubbly water was turned into a fun event and everyone enjoyed being involved in the big group bubble popping session.
Over 50 families attended and raised approximately £250 for the service, with 10% being donated to the National Portage Association, which was a fantastic effort by everyone involved. The money will be used to buy toys and equipment for Kent Portage.
Thank you to everyone who supported these fun events!
