Lewisham Portage service celebrated their 30th anniversary on Friday 5th July, A lovely day was had by all!
Lewisham Portage service celebrated their 30th anniversary of supporting pre-school children with developmental needs and their families both in their homes and in targeted groups by having a Garden Party in the gardens of Kaleidoscope. The event was on Friday 5th July and was attended by over 100 children and their families who enjoyed the children's activities such as planting seeds and joining in the fancy dress parade. The entertainer Henry was tirelessly modelling balloons. Faces from over the past 30 years joined us as young people who had received Portage and professionals who had worked with Portage came along to enjoy the wonderful Brent Knoll Makaton signing choir. There was a whole service approach in the support of the event, colleagues from the Children with Complex Needs team ran stalls selling plants, cakes and strawberries and cream. There was a 'guess the weight of the cake', tombola and raffle too which were supported by our Friends of Portage who raised money for the annual seaside trip and the Christmas party. Many local businesses also supported us by donating cakes, plants, vouchers and gifts for the raffle and tombola. We are very grateful to all those involved that made it such a special day.
