Approved settings logoSiward Road Specialist Nursery in Wandsworth Borough, London have been awarded the Portage Stamp of Approval.

The nursery is in its 4th year and has a unique set-up where up to 8 children with complex needs attend for 15 hours across Monday, Tuesday and a morning session on Wednesday and the 2nd half of the week offers 8 places for children with social communication difficulties or a diagnosis of Autism.

Many of the children who go to the nursery have had Portage before they start and the nursery staff work closely with the Portage team to plan their transition, with joint home visits, transition meetings and follow-up visits in the nursery.

6 members of staff have attended the 4 day Portage workshop.

Siward Road Specialist Nursery are really excited to be the first setting in Wandsworth to receive the Stamp of Approval and along with this have an exciting year ahead with plans well under way to start a little forest school.

The team organised an end of term celebration event for children and families; a chance to say ‘goodbye’ to a few children moving onto school as well announcing the award! Families enjoyed a picnic and experienced a visiting farm in the nursery garden. It was a great opportunity for the Wandsworth Portage Team to drop in with parents, children and staff too!

Congratulations to the team for all their hard work and dedication to families.
