I just attended a presentation by our EYs on the changes to the EYFS. Discussed was : Development Matters, Birth to 3, Observation Checkpoints, children being 'on track' or not, Birth to 3 Matters   and then shift to writing Narrative Statements and no age bands. 

I commented  that narrative descriptors are great  when accurate and precise (clear language??) andhow we collect anecdotal feedback from parents however there is still room for indicators that measure the impact of involvement or intervention.

We will all need to think about how the Portage workshop/ training meets the needs of practitioners  - In Portsmouth the national SENCO training (12 week course) is being delivered which covers a lot of the key skills we teach on the Portage workshop.
